Interpersonal Therapy

IPT is a brief and focused therapy looking at how interpersonal problem areas contribute to someone’s current distress. IPT theory assumes that our current distress was triggered by one of four problem areas: role transitions, role disputes, grief/loss or skills. Therapy focuses on the target area as well as increasing support. IPT is well researched in the field of perinatal mental health and shown to be effective for perinatal distress.
