Down-to-earth mental health support

Find What You Need with Rooted Support Psychology

Welcome. At Rooted Support we do things a bit differently.

Our extensive experience in clinical practice has shaped us.

For instance, if you are taking your time to look for support now, we understand that you need that support now and will not benefit from a lengthy wait. To honour this we invite you to click the link below to schedule your 20 minute free phone assessment. Our phone assessments happen within a week and are entirely about being your partner in making choices for your mental health. We will quickly assess what you need most and point you in the right direction. That direction takes into account things like your current needs, your financial situation, our extensive knowledge of services available in our community and our clinical judgement of what matter most.

We also offer as many ways of getting you support that we can. From free information on perinatal mental health to online or in-person appointment times and group therapy. We want this to be easy, because we know that having babies is not.

Finding someone to talk to can be a daunting task. I hope these bullet points make it a bit easier for you.

  • I am not currently accepting new patients.
  • I am a registered psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists (member #4801). This means I am probably covered by your insurance.
  • I have over 12 years of experience treating a wide range of mental health concerns from depression and anxiety to trauma and relationship problems. Although I feel competent at treating a range of issues I am especially drawn to treating postpartum depression, anxiety, trauma (including birth and delivery related trauma) and relationship issues.
  • I practice with a casual style and tend to be characterized as direct and warm. You’ll probably notice me swear and laugh during our conversation.
  • I use a number of therapeutic techniques that I am trained to use and have experience using successfully. These include: Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Group Therapy and Narrative Therapy.
  • I often end a session with an email summarizing our conversation and steps I recommend taking next.
  • I charge $220/hour but am passionate about accessible services. Please reach out if this is unmanageable for you.
  • I provide free services to one front line worker at a time. If you work in health care as a front line worker and cannot afford treatment, please reach out to find out if I can accommodate you for free.

  • I practice with a direct and caring style. I will always ask to see pictures of your people and will always do a family tree. I believe I need to know them to know you.
  • I use a number of techniques that I’ve trained in and have experience using such as Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Mindfulness, Play Therapy, Group Therapy and Attachment Based therapy.
